Natili looks up and glimpses stars between the floorboards. For a second time, she prays. Sorcery spins around her. I snatch it up and weave it into her prayer from the night before. The quill was ever my tool, not the needle, but we’ll have to make do.
When I pull the loose ends taut, wind gales. The evidence of my meddling isn’t much, but it’s enough to make the captain and Natili bolt upright.
This could get messy.
About
Memkronika is a dark fantasy series that follows Mem, a goddess of fate, and the world she chronicles. She is never supposed to intervene, but wields her forbidden powers to save two enslaved children—and accidentally possesses one of them in the process.
As Mem guides the children to safety, her world falls apart around her. She’ll need to get her hands dirty to fix it. The other gods are already dead, and her last mistake is coming to finish the job. A little help from beyond the fourth wall won’t hurt, right?
I completed a first draft back in 2016, and while my main focus has been on Thirty Thousand Steps, I’m very excited to get this project out the door as well. It’s one of the most unique things I’ve created, and Mem for one can’t wait for me to get back to writing her.
